This antelope stood at the side of the road as we passed it, turned around, passed it again, turned around again, pulled over just across the highway, rolled down the
window, and snapped the shot. They are skittish, but used to
cars. Copyright, 2006, David Wheeler
Bunnies are everywhere. This one was in our yard,
and waited patiently while my son shot a picture, and then bounced
away. Cottontails populate the town and the prairies, but the jackrabbits
pretty much stay out of town. Baby bunnies can be seen all over
in the spring and summer. Copyright, 2006, David Wheeler
There are a couple of herds of deer that congregate
on the edge of town. One doe seems to give birth to triplets every
spring, and she makes the rounds, passing up and down Maple street
usually twice a day. When her fauns get old enough, she brings them
along. This deer is one of her yearling triplets - the other two
are off to the right, out of the shot. Copyright, 2006, David Wheeler
