Camping On the Platte
Pack up the kids and the
tent and head for the River! Camping on the Platte
River is always a hit with the kids, but don't forget
the mosquito repellant and sunscreen! Bring in your
water, and pack out your trash. These sites DO offer
restrooms (thank goodness!), but no other
amenities.
Head west on Highway 30, out of Medicine Bow.
Pass Hanna, and go straight on at Walcott Junction.
Highway 30 becomes 130 at this point. Continue on for
about another 15 minutes. Watch for a brown recreation
site that says, Foote Access. There is one right
before this one called Pick Bridge that is better
marked. Foote access has better campsites and better
wading. People enjoy fishing at either
one.
This campsite is about 55 minutes
from Medicine Bow. There are several other sites in
the same area, all on the Platte River.
Check the roads
before you travel!
This site is 5 minutes outside Saratoga. If the
river is too cold for your tastes, try the hobo hot
springs in Saratoga.
