Web Hosting for Local Businesses
Put your local business website in Town server space. You get the following:
Free setup
50
MB space - enough for a good sized site
1 email address
FTP
account (so you can administer your own space)
Support for
a wide variety of dynamic scripts, optional SQL database, PHP
support, and low cost optional script install
Hosting Cost
- $20 per year
Optional
Dynamic Script Install - $20 one time fee, paid to Web Admin
(Includes
install and basic configuration of any one of the following:
Guestbook, Form Generator, Forum, Shopping Cart (does not include
product adds), Blog, Gallery, Classifieds, or other dynamic
server software)
Optional Domain Name - $10 one time setup
fee, paid to Web Admin, plus the cost of your domain, which
you must purchase through a domain registrar company.
Optional
Web Design or Admin Services - You may contract separately for
these, through the Web Admin, or any other designer of your
choice, or you may access your webspace to build the site yourself.
You can choose
between your own domain (you'll have to pay for the domain separately,
and you'll have to pay an additional fee of $10 to the web admin
to set it up), and a sub-folder on the Medicine Bow domain (this
option does not have additional fees):
There are advantages to each, and you have the flexibility to
do whatever works best with your budget. If you choose to start
out with a sub-folder, and then add your own domain later, you
are free to do that, and you can request that a redirect be
set up to keep your traffic coming to your site even if the
domain changes.
A subfolder provides a
marketing benefit,
because medicinebow.org is an established domain, which has
a long standing high reputation with the search engines. It
is regularly indexed by the search engines, and by placing your
site into the Medicine Bow domain, your site will be included
with the regular indexing. Without this benefit, it can take
your site much longer to be indexed by some search engines.
This is a significant marketing advantage to a business that
needs to get a foot in the door quickly.
Acceptable
Use Policy: Town server
space may not be use for the sale, promotion, or display of
ography, profanity, hate related, illegal, or unethical
content.
