Medicine Bow Elementary School

Grades K-3

March passed by fast with our Spring Break and Terra Nova testing. We are finishing our units in electricity and body systems. Math has been challenging as we are practicing regrouping and multiplication. We are finishing a theme in reading and starting to do the play "Country Mouse and City Mouse." We have been making 2-D and 3-D desert animals for our desert habitat. Mr. Soto makes additions to our habitat to check our powers of observation.

We are proud of Kalen Ready for placing first in Young Authors. His story went to state competition. Matthew Mayfield placed third at district, too. Elijah, Colter, Kalen, Trevor, and Matthew all have had poems selected for publication in the Wyoming Poetry book. Great job, boys!

We have lots to accomplish in our last nine weeks and many fun things to do, too. We have a Denver trip scheduled, and a Laramie-Cheyenne trip also. We will be joining Elk Mountain for Earth Day. We will be hosting a second grade district day soon, too. So look for times and dates coming home. April is our last month for our reading contracts, so keep reading!

Grades 4-6

Testing, testing, testing!!! The month of March has been just that. We have been very busy trying to get everything done. We are finally finished and ready to get back to our regular routine.

Our chicken eggs finally arrived! Their due date is April 11th. Hopefully they will hatch, and we will all have a baby chick just in time for Easter.

We are continuing to work on our monthly reading goals. If we meet our goals we will get a reward at our Denver field trip at the end of the year! Let's encourage each other to meet our goals.

The end of March also brings us to the end of the third quarter. We still have nine weeks of learning left, so we all need to buckle down and finish the year strong!
