Of Bow Days Past...
Medicine
Bow Days celebrations, which have been
held annually since 1959, have always
provided entertainment for residents
and visitors. For the Bow Days
celebrations of the late 1970s to mid
1980s, a common sight to start off the
activities included Howard Smith and
Bob Dey on horseback, leading the
parade with the American and Wyoming
flags.

Sometimes the audience might need a
little prompting in cheering the hero or
hissing the villain at a Bow Days
melodrama. In this photo, Berlina Heward
assisted with the cue cards.

Many activities and events have been
featured at past Bow Days celebrations. No
longer part of the celebration, the rabbit
races event was held in the 1960s, 70s
and 80s. Cliff Smith is shown in the
photo holding one of the wild rabbit
racers during a past Bow Days
celebration.

Bow residents displayed many talents in
producing a town celebration such as Bow
Days. This scene from a past melodrama
featured Pete Muchmore, Don White, John
Heward, and David Culver.

Bow Days celebrations have been times when
residents and visitors enjoyed donning the look of
Old West days.
